Retired Kenyan socialite Peninah Lema Munyithya, popularly known as Pesh Lema, has opened up about the circumstances that led to her seven-and-a-half-year incarceration in a Ghanaian prison. In a candid interview with Oga Obinna, Pesh recounted how a friend’s suggestion to switch suitcases before her trip to Ghana resulted in her unwittingly transporting narcotics, leading to her arrest upon arrival. Despite thorough personal checks of the luggage, she was unaware of the concealed drugs. Convicted of smuggling, Pesh served her sentence, during which she embraced Christianity. She was released early for good behavior.
Upon her return to Kenya, Pesh faced personal tragedy with the passing of her mother, whom she had cared for since 2021. She expressed deep sorrow over her mother’s prolonged illness and subsequent death, highlighting the emotional toll it has taken on her.
Now in her 30s, Pesh is focused on rebuilding her life, expressing a desire to marry and start a family. She remains committed to her faith and aims to use her experiences to guide others away from similar pitfalls.
