Kenya’s Golf Season Kicks Off with Exciting Tournaments in Machakos and Kiambu

At Machakos Golf Club, the 2025 ICEA LION King of the Course series kicked off with a record 195 golfers participating. Julius Kioko claimed the overall victory with an impressive 42 stableford points, while David Mwangangi and Mercy Nderitu topped the men’s and women’s categories. The season opener marks the beginning of a nationwide series that will travel across the country before culminating in a grand finale at Nyali Golf and Country Club in October. Meanwhile, at Kiambu Golf Club, the NCBA Kiambu Open is in full swing, attracting 78 golfers from across Kenya and East Africa. Defending champion Naomi Wafula is back to retain her title, facing fierce competition from rising stars like Michael Karanga and Elvis Muigua. With players from Uganda and Rwanda also joining the fray, the event has become a regional highlight. The Kiambu Open is known for its mix of seasoned professionals and emerging stars, making it one of the most exciting tournaments in East Africa.
