KMPDC Orders Health Facilities in Petrol Stations and Residential Areas to Relocate Within Six Months

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has issued a directive requiring all health facilities operating within petrol stations and residential buildings to relocate within six months, citing concerns over patient safety and infection control. Facilities failing to comply by September 12, 2025, will face closure.

KMPDC emphasized that such locations are unsuitable for healthcare services due to risks associated with flammable materials, inadequate infrastructure, and disturbances that compromise patient care. The council’s mandate includes regulating the training, practice, and licensing of medical and dental professionals, as well as healthcare institutions, to ensure public safety and quality care.

This move aims to enhance patient safety and reduce the spread of infections by ensuring that healthcare facilities operate in environments that meet established safety and operational standards.
