The Ministry of Health engaged in a high-level discussion with UNAIDS on Monday, to advance the country’s HIV/AIDS response. The meeting, led by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and UNAIDS Country Director Medhin Tsehaiu, focused on strengthening collaborative efforts to combat the epidemic.

This dialogue underscores Kenya’s commitment to sustaining its HIV response amidst global funding shifts. The country has made significant progress, with over 97% of people living with HIV aware of their status and on treatment. However, challenges remain, including treatment retention and the integration of HIV services into mainstream healthcare.

The partnership with UNAIDS aims to enhance technical expertise and support the integration of HIV services into universal health coverage, ensuring long-term sustainability and equity in healthcare access.
This collaboration reflects Kenya’s proactive approach in addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic, emphasizing the importance of international partnerships and domestic resilience in achieving health goals.
