Thirdway Alliance Party leader Ekuru Aukot has criticized political figures who, after losing their positions, publicly denounce government shortcomings they previously overlooked. He argues that such individuals are untrustworthy, having remained silent about governmental issues while benefiting from their roles. Aukot describes the government as a “criminal enterprise,” suggesting that these former officials were complicit in its failings.
In a related context, Aukot has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of dishonesty. He points out that Gachagua, who once staunchly defended President William Ruto’s policies, now criticizes the administration after his impeachment. Aukot believes that Gachagua should begin by publicly apologizing to Kenyans for his previous defenses of government actions.
Furthermore, Aukot has alleged that the opposition coalition, Azimio La Umoja, was compromised by the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party as early as February 2024. He suggests that this alliance has led to a lack of genuine opposition, with leaders more focused on political expediency than addressing the nation’s issues.
