The Ministry of Health is committed to expanding job opportunities for Kenyan nursing graduates by increasing the number of candidates sitting for the NCLEX exam and qualifying for international employment.
In a recent visit to the Pearson VUE NCLEX examination center, Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, discussed ways to make the exam more accessible and affordable for Kenyan nurses. The initiative aims to eliminate financial and logistical barriers that hinder many nurses from taking the exam, thereby opening doors to global employment opportunities.”Our focus is to ensure that more Kenyan nurses can sit for the NCLEX exam without financial or logistical constraints.
By improving access to this examination, we are unlocking global employment opportunities for our healthcare professionals,” said PS Muthoni.The collaboration involves the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), the Nursing Council of Kenya, and Pearson VUE.
These partnerships aim to enhance nurses’ preparedness for the NCLEX, a critical step toward securing international employment opportunities in the healthcare sector.KMTC is playing a key role by offering a comprehensive NCLEX preparatory course, providing nurses with the knowledge and confidence to succeed.
This course is designed to equip candidates with essential skills, further ensuring their readiness for global job markets.PS Muthoni was accompanied by KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch and Nursing Council of Kenya CEO Dr. Lister Onsongo during the visit, underscoring the importance of this initiative in shaping the future of nursing professionals in Kenya.
