Homa Bay Intensifies HIV Fight with Strategic Plan Review

The National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) has initiated a comprehensive review of its strategic plan to enhance efforts in combating HIV infections in Homa Bay County. Regional Coordinator Stephen Oyugi confirmed that the review aims to incorporate innovative approaches targeting various population segments, including adolescents and marginalized groups, to curb the rising HIV prevalence in the region.

Homa Bay County has been grappling with high HIV prevalence rates, with recent reports indicating a 15.2% increase in new infections. The NSDCC’s strategic plan review is expected to address these challenges by introducing tailored interventions and strengthening community engagement to reduce transmission rates and improve treatment outcomes.

The review process is set to involve key stakeholders, including local health authorities, community leaders, and development partners, to ensure a collaborative and effective response to the HIV epidemic in Homa Bay County.

This initiative aligns with the NSDCC’s broader commitment to achieving an HIV-free generation in Kenya by 2030.
