The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Selection Panel, chaired by Nelson Makanda, has released the final list of 11 shortlisted candidates for the position of IEBC Chairperson. This follows an extensive review that initially saw 37 applicants vying for the role.
The oral interviews are scheduled to begin on Monday, March 24, 2025, and conclude on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the College of Insurance in South C, Nairobi. The interview sessions will run from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm daily.

The panel has emphasized the importance of transparency and integrity throughout the selection process. All shortlisted candidates are required to present original national identity cards or passports, along with their testimonials and certificates. Additionally, valid clearance certificates from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Higher Education Loans Board, the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Credit Reference Bureau must be provided. Candidates with foreign degrees should obtain verification from the Commission for University Education.
Members of the public are invited to submit written memoranda regarding the suitability of any shortlisted candidate. These memoranda must be submitted under oath and delivered via registered mail, hand-delivered to the 3rd Floor, County House Building, Parliament Road, or emailed as a PDF attachment to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions concerning the Chairperson position is March 19, 2025, at 5 pm, while those for Member positions must be received by March 26, 2025, at 5 pm.
The IEBC Selection Panel has reiterated its commitment to conducting a fair and transparent process, ensuring that only the most qualified and competent individuals are appointed to steer the commission forward. Any attempts by applicants to canvass or influence the selection process will result in automatic disqualification.
