Catholic Monks finished their Dala 7s campaign on a high, lifting the Challenge Trophy after a dominant 26–7 victory over Impala in the final. It was a performance full of energy, structure, and clinical execution from the student side, who capped off their day with silverware and a statement of intent.
The Monks had earlier booked their spot in the final after seeing off a spirited Embu Rugby side in the first semifinal. Their composure under pressure and ability to strike at key moments saw them through to the last hurdle. On the other side of the draw, Impala overcame archrivals Kenya Harlequin in a closely fought Nairobi derby to set up the showdown against CUEA.
In the final, the Monks wasted no time asserting control, scoring early and keeping Impala on the back foot for most of the match. Despite Impala’s attempts to rally, the Monks stayed disciplined in defense and ruthless on the counter, eventually sealing a well-deserved 26–7 win.
It’s a major moment for the Catholic University outfit, who have steadily built momentum throughout the National Sevens Circuit. Their Dala 7s success not only brings silverware but also solidifies their growing reputation as one of the most competitive non-club teams on the circuit.
