FKF Sacks Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Wilfred Marori Over Gross Misconduct

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has summarily dismissed its Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Wilfred Marori Mokaya, after finding him guilty of gross misconduct following an internal disciplinary process.

In a dismissal letter shared to the media, FKF said Marori’s employment was terminated with immediate effect after he failed to comply with lawful directives issued by the federation.

According to the letter, the disciplinary process began with a Notice to Show Cause issued on June 15, 2026. Marori responded on June 22 before FKF issued a First and Final Directive and Caution on July 1, requiring him to resume duty and confirm his compliance in writing within 48 hours.

However, the federation said Marori failed to report back to work or communicate with FKF for 21 consecutive days after receiving the directive, prompting the federation to conclude the disciplinary process.

FKF stated that it carefully reviewed his response but found it unsatisfactory. The federation rejected his claim that he had been authorized to work off-site, saying no such arrangement had been approved and that he failed to provide documentary evidence to support the assertion.

Following its investigations, FKF found several allegations against the employee to have been substantiated.

Among them was unauthorized absence from duty without approved leave or lawful cause. The federation also accused Marori of misrepresenting that he had been granted permission to work remotely when no such authorization existed.

FKF further found that he used abusive and insulting language towards fellow employees through a social media account verified as belonging to him. He was also accused of ignoring lawful instructions by failing to comply with the federation’s final directive to resume duty and confirm his position in writing.

In addition, the federation said Marori continued using FKF logos in public social media communication despite having been warned to stop.

The federation ruled that the offences amounted to gross misconduct under Section 44 of the Employment Act, 2007, leading to his summary dismissal with effect from July 23, 2026.

FKF said the former employee will receive all terminal dues lawfully owed up to his last day of duty, subject to statutory deductions, and has been directed to return all federation property, including identification cards, equipment, access cards and official documents, within seven days.
