Detectives in Nairobi have opened investigations after the body of a man reported missing was discovered at the Talanta City Stadium construction site in Jamhuri.
The deceased, 35-year-old Sammy Kyengo, had been missing since September 6, 2025. His body was found a week later in a water sump at the site, concealed with wooden boards behind the under-construction terraces.
Casual workers made the grim discovery on Saturday, September 13, while clearing construction materials in preparation for plastering.
Police reported that the body had visible injuries on the back of the head and the right side of the neck, with blood oozing from the nose and mouth — raising strong suspicions of foul play.
The motive behind the killing remains unknown.
Kyengo’s body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy as detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
Construction managers were forced to halt work on Saturday to allow police to process the scene and collect evidence.
Family members said they had spent days searching for Kyengo in hospitals, police stations, and mortuaries before receiving the devastating news. Other workers at the site confirmed seeing him on the day he disappeared but could not recall whether he left the premises.
