There is growing tensions between President William Ruto and his Public Service Cabinet Secretary, Justin Muturi as the discord became evident when President Ruto criticized Muturi’s performance as Attorney General, accusing him of hindering governmental progress. Speaking at the launch of the Annual Supplement of the Law of Kenya report at State House Nairobi, Ruto emphasized the need for digitization within the Attorney General’s office, stating that it was lagging behind and impeding overall governmental efficiency.
In response, Muturi has openly challenged certain government actions, particularly concerning human rights issues. He condemned the administration’s handling of abductions and enforced disappearances, revealing that his own son, Leslie Muturi, was abducted and held incommunicado for over six months without explanation or charges. Muturi expressed frustration over the lack of accountability, stating that despite his high-ranking position at the time, he received no answers from security agencies.
Muturi’s outspoken stance has led to speculation about his future in the Cabinet. He remains defiant, indicating that he does not fear dismissal for voicing his concerns. He emphasized the importance of addressing these issues openly to prevent potential chaos and anarchy.
