Gachagua Accuses Ruto of Gold-Smuggling Ties with Sudan’s RSF

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused President William Ruto of engaging in illicit gold-smuggling operations with Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, leader of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Gachagua claims that gold is illicitly transported from Sudan to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) before being shipped to Dubai.

He further alleges that during his tenure as Deputy President, Ruto tasked him with facilitating a meeting with Hemedti, which he was later excluded from, suggesting the discussions were business-related rather than matters of national interest.

Additionally, Gachagua criticized Ruto’s decision to host RSF leaders in Nairobi, stating that it violated Kenya’s policy of non-interference and tarnished the nation’s international reputation. He warned that such actions risked isolating Kenya diplomatically and compromising its standing on the global stage.

In response to these allegations, Sudan’s government condemned Kenya’s facilitation of RSF activities, labeling it an “act of hostility” and a violation of international law. Sudan vowed to take “necessary action” in response to Kenya’s involvement with the RSF.
