The highly anticipated Mashemeji Derby between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia has been rescheduled due to venue challenges. Initially set for Nyayo National Stadium, the match has been moved to Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani, on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

AFC Leopards Chairman Dan Shikanda expressed concerns over the venue change, suggesting that if Kasarani remains unavailable, the match could be relocated to neighboring countries like Uganda or Tanzania. He emphasized the importance of hosting the fixture at a suitable venue to maintain its significance.

The Mashemeji Derby, one of Kenya’s most iconic football fixtures, has faced venue challenges in the past. In November 2024, the match was postponed due to the unavailability of suitable venues, as both Nyayo National Stadium and MISC, Kasarani, were undergoing renovations for major international tournaments.
