A Sudanese army plane crashed in a residential area near the Wadi Seidna military airport in northern Omdurman, resulting in the deaths of more than 20 individuals, including military personnel and civilians.
The Antonov aircraft had taken off from Wadi Seidna Airbase, approximately 22 kilometers north of Khartoum, and crashed shortly after departure.
Among the deceased was Major General Bahr Ahmed, a senior commander in Khartoum who previously served as the commander of the army across the entire capital.
Witnesses reported that several homes were damaged by the crash, and the incident caused power outages in the surrounding area near Wadi Seidna Air Base.
The crash occurred amid the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which began in April 2023.
