Two women were arrested after one of them posted a chilling photo on a WhatsApp group showing herself holding a pistol, accompanied by a warning message directed at men who might dare to dump her. The post, which caused alarm among group members, quickly attracted the attention of law enforcement, sparking a swift investigation.
Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, working in coordination with their Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) counterparts in Nyando, tracked down the woman behind the post. Authorities say she had posted the image with a chilling caption, warning that any man who ended their relationship would face serious consequences.
Following her arrest, the woman led officers to a rented two-bedroom house belonging to her close friend, who was subsequently taken into custody as a co-accused. A thorough search of the premises uncovered a firearm cleverly hidden in a basin under the bed, wrapped in clothes. The pistol, which had an empty magazine, was seized by detectives, along with a fake motorcycle number plate bearing the number KMGG 805M.
Both women are now in police custody, facing serious charges, and are set to be processed for arraignment in court. The DCI has confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with detectives probing the origin of the firearm and whether other individuals are involved in the illegal activities.
This arrest comes just days after two men were charged in a separate case at Kahawa Law Courts for running fraudulent social media accounts impersonating high-ranking government officials. The incidents highlight the growing concerns over the misuse of social media for illegal and dangerous activities, with law enforcement sending a clear message about the seriousness of these offenses.
As investigations continue, authorities remain focused on uncovering the full scope of the criminal network behind the gun and social media threats, sending a stern warning to those who misuse digital platforms for illegal purposes.
