President Samia Suluhu Hassan Responds to Diamond Platnumz’s Call for Modern Concert Arena

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has pledged $172 million to construct a state-of-the-art indoor music arena in Dar es Salaam. This decision comes after significant advocacy from Bongo Flava star Diamond Platnumz, who highlighted the urgent need for modern performance venues in the country.

The announcement follows challenges faced during the recent Trace Music Summit and Awards held in Zanzibar. The event’s concert stage experienced repeated collapses, causing embarrassment among international attendees, including music executives and record label presidents. Diamond Platnumz expressed his frustration, emphasizing the necessity for a dedicated concert arena to prevent such incidents and enhance Tanzania’s reputation as a premier entertainment destination.

The planned arena aims to seat 15,000 attendees, surpassing the capacity of Rwanda’s BK Arena in Kigali. Beyond hosting concerts, the venue is envisioned to accommodate various events, including conferences, sports, and cultural activities, thereby boosting tourism and the arts sector.
