Safaricom Powers 2025 WRC Safari Rally with KES 46.5 Million Sponsorship

Safaricom is revving up the 2025 WRC Safari Rally with a KES 46.5 million sponsorship, ensuring world-class connectivity, safety, and media coverage for this thrilling motorsport event. As the official technology partner, Safaricom is bringing the heat with state-of-the-art solutions, from 5G-powered Cell on Wheels (C.O.W.s) to telematics for safety vehicles, ensuring a seamless experience for fans, teams, and officials alike.

The tech giant is installing six mobile network units along key rally routes, including Kedong, Elementaita, Soysambu, Morendat, and Hell’s Gate, to guarantee uninterrupted network coverage. Additionally, two fully equipped media centers will support live global streaming, keeping journalists and media outlets connected, even in the most remote rally zones.

“This year, we’re stepping up our support to ensure the WRC Safari Rally runs smoothly and seamlessly connected,” said Dr. Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom CEO. “Beyond the rally, we’re setting up a medical camp in Naivasha to provide essential services to the local community, proving our commitment to both the event and the people of Kenya.”

Safety is also top of mind, with the installation of telematics and Smart Vehicle Tracking in the safety caravan, providing rapid response capabilities for rally teams and spectators.
