Justin Muturi Accuses President Ruto of Secret Corruption Deals

In an interview on NTV’s “Fixing the Nation,” Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi openly criticized President William Ruto, alleging a discrepancy between the president’s public stance against corruption and his private actions. Muturi claimed that while Ruto publicly condemns corruption, he is allegedly involved in covert corrupt activities amounting to billions of shillings.

Muturi further asserted that Ruto exhibits contrasting behaviors, presenting a different persona in private meetings compared to his public appearances. He expressed his concerns about Ruto’s fitness for the presidential role, stating, “He is quite a dangerous character. I think Ruto is unfit for the position of president.” Muturi reflected on Ruto’s public commitments to combating corruption, questioning the sincerity of these declarations. “When I watched him talk to members of my Cabinet, saying I don’t want to see corruption, I wondered who is this talking to?”

This interview adds to Muturi’s history of expressing dissatisfaction with Ruto’s administration. In January 2025, Muturi condemned the government’s handling of abductions and extrajudicial killings, highlighting the abduction of his own son in June 2024 as a personal grievance. He criticized the administration for engaging in practices it had previously condemned, stating, “One of the things we had accused the past regimes of was the existence of disappearances and extrajudicial killings.” Muturi also expressed regret over his association with Ruto, mentioning that friends had warned him against joining the Kenya Kwanza coalition but he chose to ignore their advice.
