President Ruto Reshuffles Cabinet with Key Ministerial Changes

In a strategic move to enhance governmental efficiency, President William Ruto has announced significant cabinet reshuffles affecting key ministries. Aden Duale, previously serving as the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, has been reassigned to lead the Ministry of Health. This change positions Duale at the forefront of advancing the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) initiative, a cornerstone of the administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Expressing gratitude for the President’s trust, Duale emphasized his commitment to ensuring equitable healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable populations.

Deborah Barasa, formerly the Health CS, will now oversee the Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry docket. Barasa, a seasoned physician and infectious diseases expert, previously held the position of Health CS since August 2024.

Her leadership in the health sector has been marked by initiatives aimed at strengthening Kenya’s healthcare systems. In her new role, Barasa is expected to leverage her extensive experience to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development.
