On Monday, President William Ruto is expected to visit India to hold private discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a statement released on Monday, State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said that the discussions would center on fortifying connections in vital areas and will culminate in the execution of Memoranda of Understandings (MOUs).
Agribusiness, commerce, investment promotion, healthcare—especially in the fields of pharmaceutical manufacture and capacity building—education, ICT, maritime affairs, and renewable energy are among what will be discussed.
According to Spokesperson Mohamed, Ruto is expected to also to meet with Indian President Droupadi Murmu and present at a trade and investment summit, emphasizing the possibility of economic collaboration between India and Kenya.
“The State Visit marks a significant milestone in the relationship between Kenya and India, providing a platform for collaborative initiatives and contributing to mutual benefits for the two nations and peoples,” said Mohamed.
This comes after President Ruto visited the ongoing 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Ruto led African heads of state at the Africa Green Industrialization Initiative, which aims to accelerate and grow green industries and enterprises across Africa. It was reported that Ruto’s visit would take place between November 30 and December 2.
As a result of his involvement, Kenya was able to get agreements worth 4.5 billion US dollars, or Ksh. 680 billion, to promote green industrialization in the nation.
A data center to be established in collaboration with KenGen and Konza City will cost Ksh.90 billion, green fertilizer projects Ksh.225 billion, and a 300 megawatt geothermal project at Suswa Ksh.150 billion.
Investments are already being made that will speed up these initiatives.
