The CUE’s action aligns with broader efforts to address the proliferation of fake academic credentials among public servants. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has reported that over 2,000 government employees possess forged certificates, including 103 from the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration. This revelation has prompted calls for thorough investigations and accountability.
These developments highlight the urgent need for robust verification mechanisms within Kenya’s educational and public service sectors. Both the CUE and EACC are intensifying efforts to eradicate academic fraud, aiming to restore trust and uphold the value of genuine qualifications.
