Former First Lady Michelle Obama has addressed persistent rumors regarding her marriage to former President Barack Obama, firmly dismissing claims of a divorce. In a recent interview on the “Work in Progress” podcast with actress Sophia Bush, Michelle explained that her absence from certain high-profile events, such as President Donald Trump’s inauguration and the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter, was a personal choice aimed at prioritizing her own well-being. She emphasized that these decisions were misinterpreted as signs of marital discord, highlighting the societal tendency to scrutinize women’s personal choices.
Addressing the speculation, Michelle remarked, “But the interesting thing is that when I say no, for the most part, people are like, ‘I get it, and I’m okay.’ Right? And that’s the thing that we as women, I think we struggle with, like disappointing people.”
To further dispel the rumors, the Obamas shared affectionate messages on Valentine’s Day. Barack Obama posted a heartfelt tribute to Michelle, referring to her as “the love of my life,” while Michelle reciprocated with a message expressing her unwavering support, calling him her “rock.”
