Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly and Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca have both parted ways with their head coaches, citing disappointing performances in the lead-up to the Club World Cup qualifiers.
Al Ahly dismissed coach Marcel Koller following a series of underwhelming results, including a recent loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League. The club’s board expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s performance and decided to make a change ahead of crucial international fixtures. Assistant coach Samy Komsan has been appointed as the interim head coach.

Similarly, Wydad Casablanca terminated the contract of coach Rulani Mokwena after a string of poor results in both domestic and continental competitions. The club’s management cited the need for a fresh approach to improve the team’s performance as the reason for the decision. Mokwena’s departure comes amid mounting pressure from fans and critics alike.

Both clubs are now in search of new leadership to guide them through the upcoming Club World Cup qualifiers, aiming to restore their competitive edge on the international stage.
