Raila Receives Warm Welcome in Wajir as Consultations Continue

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga intensified his grassroots consultations by visiting Wajir County. Accompanied by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Odinga engaged with local residents and leaders to gather insights on his potential political trajectory. He expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmed Abdullahi Mohamed for the warm reception and to ODM leaders in the region for their active participation in the discussions.

During his address to the residents, Odinga reflected on past political dynamics, notably referencing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s 2023 comments about securing State House from his influence. He humorously remarked on Gachagua’s alleged precautions, questioning whether the public desired a return to such stringent measures.

These consultations are part of Odinga’s broader effort to assess public sentiment ahead of the 2027 elections, as he weighs options between resuming his role as leader of the opposition or supporting President William Ruto’s administration. Political analysts note that Odinga’s forthcoming decisions are highly anticipated, given his significant influence in Kenyan politics and the uncertain phase he navigates at this stage of his career.
