PSL Side AmaZulu Land Kenyan Goal Machine Moses Shumah After Record-Breaking Season in Zambia

Moses Shumah’s remarkable rise in African football has reached another milestone after Power Dynamos confirmed his transfer to South African Premier Soccer League side AmaZulu FC.

The announcement, made by the Zambian club minutes ago, brings an end to a highly successful spell for the former Kakamega Homeboyz forward, who leaves the MTN Super League champions as one of the league’s most prolific strikers.

Shumah joined Power Dynamos from Kakamega Homeboyz in July last year following a stellar campaign in the FKF Premier League, where he emerged as the league’s top scorer. His move to Zambia generated significant discussion among Kenyan football fans, with many keen to see whether the young striker could replicate his goalscoring exploits outside the country.

Less than a year later, he has done far more than that.

The 23-year-old quickly established himself as a key figure at Arthur Davies Stadium, becoming one of the most feared forwards in the Zambian top flight. His ability to consistently find the back of the net played a major role in Power Dynamos’ success and cemented his reputation as one of the most exciting Kenyan exports in recent years.

Shumah leaves the club after winning the MTN Super League Golden Boot with 21 goals which fired Power Dynamos to title defence . Across all competitions, he scored 23 goals. That made him a household name and the club’s fan favorite

The accolades continued to pour in as the season came to a close. At the 2025/26 Power Dynamos-Garden Court Awards, Shumah completed a remarkable hat-trick of honours after being named the Club’s Top Scorer, Fans’ Player of the Season and Footballer of the Year. The awards served as further recognition of the immense impact he made during his brief but highly successful stay at the club.

Despite having a year remaining on his contract, the striker opted to take up a new challenge in South Africa after AmaZulu reached an agreement with Power Dynamos for his transfer.

His departure is not only a significant loss for the Zambian giants but also a reflection of the impact he made in such a short period. In modern football, strikers are often judged by numbers, and Shumah’s numbers speak for themselves. From topping the scoring charts in Kenya to becoming the leading marksman in Zambia, his career trajectory has continued on an upward curve.

Power Dynamos Chief Executive Officer Gibson Chaloba praised the striker’s contribution to the club and acknowledged the role he played during his stay.

“Moses had an excellent season for us and his goals were a major reason for our success. He worked hard, remained focused and has earned this opportunity to take the next step in his career.”

The move to AmaZulu now presents the Kenyan forward with perhaps his biggest challenge yet. The South African PSL is widely regarded as one of the strongest and most competitive leagues on the continent, and it offers Shumah a platform to further elevate his career.

For Kenyan football, the transfer represents another success story of local talent making its mark beyond the country’s borders. Shumah’s journey from Kakamega Homeboyz to Power Dynamos and now AmaZulu highlights the growing pathways available to Kenyan players willing to take on new challenges.

As he begins a new chapter in Durban, Shumah leaves Zambia with his reputation enhanced, his trophy cabinet richer, and his ambitions firmly intact. The next stage of his journey starts in South Africa, where he will look to prove that his goalscoring prowess can shine on an even bigger stage.
