The 2026 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit moves to Nairobi this weekend for its third leg, with the George Kabeberi Memorial 7s set for August 15–16 at the RFUEA Grounds.

The Kabeberi tournament follows a competitive opening two legs, with KCB Rugby Club claiming the Prinsloo 7s title in Nakuru before Kabras Sugar RFC responded by winning the Dala 7s in Kisumu.

KCB launched their title defence in impressive fashion at the Prinsloo 7s, going unbeaten throughout the tournament before overcoming Kabras 19–12 in the final at Nakuru Athletics Club. The victory gave the Bankers an early advantage as they began their campaign to retain the National Sevens Circuit crown.

Kabras, however, quickly turned the tables at the second leg. After finishing runners-up to KCB at Prinsloo, the Kakamega-based side went all the way at the Dala 7s, collecting valuable points that lifted them to the top of the overall standings.

Kabras currently lead the six-leg circuit with 41 points, six ahead of KCB, setting up another intriguing meeting between the two sides at Kabeberi. The defending champions have been drawn in Pool D alongside Kabras, MMUST RFC and Nakuru RFC, making it one of the most closely watched groups of the weekend.

KCB will be looking to use their home-leg momentum to reduce the gap at the top, while Kabras will be keen to maintain the consistency that has put them in command after the opening two tournaments.

Kenya Harlequin, third on 30 points, will also be among the teams looking to disrupt the leading pair. They headline Pool A alongside Daystar Falcons, Kisumu RFC and Impala RFC. Harlequin made their mark at Dala by eliminating KCB in the Cup quarter-finals before eventually finishing third.

Menengai Oilers sit fourth on 26 points and will lead Pool C, where they face Zetech Oaks, KU Blak Blad and Mombasa RFC. Their semi-final appearance at Dala represented a strong response after a difficult opening leg, and they will be hoping for another deep run in Nairobi.

Pool B features Mwamba RFC, Strathmore Leos, Nondescripts RFC and CUEA Monks, all seeking valuable points as the six-leg championship progresses.

Kabeberi will also feature a 16-team Division Two competition and an eight-team women’s tournament. Dala 7s champions Mwamba Ladies will be among the teams to watch in the women’s event, having been drawn in Pool A with Impala Roans, NYS Ladies and Jackals Women. Pool B comprises Kenya Harlequin, Northern Suburbs, Kiambaa Ladies and Shamberere Viqueens.

With the circuit still in its early stages, the Nairobi leg offers teams another opportunity to build momentum and strengthen their positions before the remaining three tournaments bring the six-leg championship towards its conclusion.
