Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy has officially named his final 25-man squad for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to kick off in 8 days

The final list comes after weeks of intense training and assessment, following a now-cancelled CECAFA Four Nations tournament that was initially intended as Kenya’s last pre-CHAN warm-up. McCarthy and his technical bench have gone for a balanced mix of experience and rising local talent as Kenya prepares to mount a serious challenge on the continental stage.
Among the standout selections are Gor Mahia duo Alpha Onyango and Austin Odhiambo, with late call-up Masoud Juma also securing his place. Rangers striker Felix Oluoch and Shabana FC’s Austin Odongo, both late additions to the camp have impressed enough to earn a spot in the final squad.
Goalkeeping duties will be handled by Bandari duo Faruk Shikhalo and Byrne Omondi, along with Sebastian Wekesa, offering dependable options between the posts. The defense will be anchored by seasoned campaigners Aboud Omar who has been named captain and Daniel Sakari. They are joined by Gor Mahia’s central defensive pairing of Alphonce Omija and Sylvester Owino, while youthful talent like Lewis Bandi adds depth.

In midfield, McCarthy has opted for dynamism and creativity, with Alpha Onyango, Marvin Nabwire, and Brian Musa among those expected to dictate play. Upfront, the Stars will bank on pace and unpredictability from attackers like Mohammed Bajaber, Boniface Muchiri, and Ryan Ogam.
