Kenya Cane is making a splash in Meru County with a generous donation to the Kibumbu Caregivers, a women-led self-help group in Chuka. The iconic Kenyan brand has gifted the group a 10,000-litre water tank, along with water pipes and buckets, to support their thriving fish farming project that helps fund the education and well-being of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
This donation will enhance the group’s ability to sustain healthy fishponds, boost harvests, and secure a steady income. “At Kenya Cane, we believe in celebrating everyday wins, and that includes uplifting the communities that support us,” said Davis Changalwa, Brand Manager of Kenya Cane at Kenya Breweries Limited. “We’re honored to help the Kibumbu Caregivers continue their incredible work, and we hope this support creates a lasting impact.”
Caroline Karimi, the Chairlady of Kibumbu Caregivers, expressed her gratitude, saying, “This donation will significantly improve our water storage, allow us to harvest rainwater, and sustain our fish farming, which will help us generate income for the families we support.”
Formed by women who stepped up to care for their grandchildren after losing their children to HIV/AIDS, the group of over 30 members has turned to modern farming techniques to secure their livelihoods. Their fish farming and agricultural activities not only provide food for their families but also help support other vulnerable families within the community.

Kenya Cane continues its commitment to empowering communities and fostering sustainable development through impactful initiatives like this.
