SportPesa League Round 7 Preview

The SportPesa League returns this weekend for Round Seven with enticing fixtures lined up across Saturday and Sunday, setting the stage for another thrilling round in the 2025/26 campaign.

Record title holders Gor Mahia will host Ulinzi Stars at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday, looking to extend their winning momentum after dispatching Mathare United in midweek that propelled them to second on the log with fewer games played. Ulinzi, still adjusting under interim coach Stephen Ochola, are desperate to steady their season following recent defeats that have left them hovering near the lower half.

At Nyayo Stadium, AFC Leopards face Mathare United in another eye-catching tie. Leopards remain unbeaten this season and will be keen to build on their back-to-back victories following a string of early draws. Mathare, led by John Kamau, showed promise against Gor Mahia despite the loss and will look to rediscover their sharpness in front of goal.

Kenya Police, the defending champions, make their return to league action after their continental campaign and will face Posta Rangers at the Police Sacco Stadium. Nairobi United, fresh from their fairy-tale qualification to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, will also be back in domestic competition against Sofapaka at Dandora Stadium.

League leaders Kakamega Homeboyz will look to tighten their grip on top spot when they welcome Tusker FC to Bukhungu Stadium. Homeboyz edged APS Bomet in midweek to stretch their lead, while Tusker’s resurgence has seen them climb rapidly after a shaky start to the season.

In Awendo, Mara Sugar will be eager to bounce back after their 2–2 draw with Sofapaka, a match where they surrendered a two-goal advantage and conceded a heartbreaking equalizer deep into stoppage time. Their preparations have also been rocked by the indefinite suspension of their goalkeeper Steve Otieno following that costly blunder. Bandari FC visit Green Stadium hoping to pile more pressure.

Elsewhere, Bidco United host APS Bomet at Kasarani Annex, while Murang’a Seal take on KCB at the SportPesa Arena in another Sunday showdown.

With several heavyweights returning from continental assignments and form teams seeking to maintain momentum, Round Seven promises an action-packed weekend in the SportPesa League.
