In a historic move towards political unity, President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga signed a framework agreement at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) Today. This agreement formalizes the collaboration between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to fulfill their respective campaign promises to the Kenyan populace.
During the signing ceremony, President Ruto expressed his deep respect for Raila Odinga, acknowledging his significant contributions to Kenya’s political landscape. He reminisced about their shared history within the ODM party and emphasized that Odinga’s influence has been pivotal in shaping the nation’s political environment. Ruto stated, “I called my brother and told him, you have been my brother and party leader, today by God’s grace I am president, I want you to be treated well and I will do whatever it takes to make sure that you have respect in Kenya.”
Highlighting Odinga’s dedication to national interests, President Ruto remarked, “Not many leaders can make the kind of decisions Raila Odinga can make. Very few people can put the interests of the nation ahead of their own personal interests.” He further assured that this commitment to respect is driven by principle and tradition, rather than political motives.
