Voi police have arrested five suspected gangsters who were conducting surveillance outside two banks in the town, thwarting their plans for a series of highway robberies.
The suspects were apprehended following a tip-off about two suspicious vehicles parked outside KCB and Cooperative Bank in Voi. Upon arrival, detectives observed occupants attempting to hastily roll up windows and drive away, arousing further suspicion. A search of the vehicles revealed fake number plates hidden in the boots, along with car lock-breaking equipment. Preliminary investigations indicate that the gang had arrived from Mombasa and was en route to Nakuru, specializing in breaking into cars to steal valuables such as laptops, tablets, watches, purses, and wallets. They had been targeting vehicles in bank parking lots under the guise of being customers to avoid detection. The suspects are currently being held at Voi Police Station as investigations continue.
