M-Pesa celebrated its 18th anniversary in a spectacular fashion across Kenya today, marking nearly two decades of revolutionizing Africa’s financial landscape. In Kisumu, the mobile money giant treated travelers at the Bungoma Line stage by paying for their bus fares and distributing a range of exciting goodies. Meanwhile, in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), M-Pesa made sure passengers enjoyed free rides by covering matatu fares, spreading goodwill throughout the city.

The celebration also reached Mombasa, where M-Pesa awarded gift hampers to local shops, showcasing its ongoing commitment to customer growth and service expansion. Additionally, shoppers nationwide were surprised with vouchers worth KSh 1,000 when they spent over that amount, instantly deducted from their total, in a generous gesture that underlined M-Pesa’s dedication to enhancing the customer experience and supporting the local economy.

With its 18th anniversary, M-Pesa reinforced its position as a leader in digital financial services, celebrating the positive impact it has made in the region.
