KCB Football Club has officially confirmed the appointment of veteran tactician Robert Matano as their new head coach, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Bankers as the experienced gaffer returns to the FKF Premier League after a brief stint with Fountain Gate FC in Tanzania,
Taking over from Patrick Odhiambo; who was suspended towards the end of last season following a run of poor results, Matano, Kenya’s most successful coach with four league titles (three with Tusker FC and one with Sofapaka), is expected to revamp the squad in the off-season, address defensive weaknesses, and build a more ruthless attack.
While Unveiling the New Coach , club’s patron Azu Ogola said , “Today marks a significant milestone for KCB Football Club; in Matano, we welcome a highly accomplished coach with outstanding leadership and a winning mentality,his wealth of experience and championship pedigree make him the ideal candidate to guide the team into a new era of success.”

Matano, who is set to work alongside his trusted assistant John Njogu, expressed his delight at the appointment, saying, “I’m honored to be joining KCB FC; this is a club with immense potential, strong backing, and a clear vision, I’m here to win, to compete, and to build a team that reflects the strength and ambition of the KCB brand.”
With KCB having finished ninth in the 2024/25 season, fans and pundits alike believe Matano’s return could be the spark the club needs to finally mount a serious challenge for silverware, as the roar of The Lion promises to be louder than ever before.
