The delegation paid their respects at the Vatican’s diplomatic mission in Kenya, a significant gesture reflecting the deep ties between Kenya and the Catholic Church.

Speaker Wetangula, affectionately known as “Papa wa Roma,” expressed his admiration for the late pontiff during a previous meeting in Vatican City in August 2024. He described Pope Francis as a “true servant leader” dedicated to bringing hope, equality, and opportunities to the less fortunate, embodying mercy, love, compassion, and courage in his leadership
