Public opinion is being accepted on two significant draft rules being considered by the Public Service Commission (PSC): the Affirmative Action rules 2024 and the Removal of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Regulations 2024.
On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, PSC informed Kenyans about the two draft regulations and the need for their feedback in a statement.
“The Public Service Commission, pursuant to the provisions of Section 48, 76 and 92 of the Public Service Commission Act, 2017, has developed Draft Public Service Commission (Affirmative Action) Regulations, 2024 and Reviewed the Public Service Commission (Removal of the Director of Public Prosecutions) Regulations, 2024,” PSC said in a notice.
PSC went on to say that the purpose of the Affirmative Action Draft Regulations is to implement the Constitution’s mandate for inclusivity, taking into account Kenya’s various groups, people with disabilities, and young people working in public service.
The Commission further stated that the framework for reviewing petitions to remove the Director of Public Prosecutions will be provided by the Reviewed Draft Regulations on DPP removal.
“On the other hand, the Reviewed Draft Regulations on Removal of the Director of Public Prosecutions is as provided for under Article 158 of the Constitution and will provide a framework for consideration of petitions for the removal of the Director of Public Prosecutions,” PSC said.
On or before April 16, 2024, the Commission invited interested parties and the general public to provide written memoranda expressing their opinions on the two Regulations.
“Written Memoranda may be sent to the Secretary, Public Service Commission, P 0 Box 30095-00100, Nairobi; hand-delivered to the Public Service Commission, Commission House, Harambee Avenue, or emailed to the secretary@publicservice.go.ke and, or legalservices@publicsenike.go.ke to be received on or before Friday, 26th April, 2024,” PSC said.
