Kenya-Ghana Cooperation Marks a Milestone in Bilateral Relations, says Prime Cabinet Secretary Mudavadi

Musalia Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, has praised Kenya and Ghana’s long-standing relationship, stating that President William Ruto’s three-day State Visit to Ghana, which begins on Tuesday, demonstrates the two countries’ growing partnership.

Speaking earlier today in Accra at the 2nd session of the Kenya-Ghana Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation (JPCC), Mudavadi underlined Kenya’s commitment to exploring possible avenues of common interests to further deepen bilateral relations.

“Kenya and Ghana’s historical ties can be traced back to the pre-independence era, characterized by a shared struggle for self-rule and independence. The spirit of Pan-Africanism drove both nations as they drew inspiration from each other’s liberation movements,” he said.

The Prime CS further stated that various bilateral cooperation frameworks have been agreed in critical areas like as agriculture, information technology, commerce, transportation, tourism, technical vocational education, and energy, reflecting a commitment to widening and strengthening engagement.

Hon. Shirley Ayorkor, Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, underlined her steadfast commitment to working closely with Dr. Mudavadi to strengthen Ghana and Kenya’s long-standing relationship.

“Today we write a new chapter of our bilateral relations, one characterized by mutual respect, understanding and cooperation. The commercial exchange between our two countries has witnessed a remarkable surge, indicative of the robust growth trajectory in our bilateral economic relations. It is gratifying to observe that our collaborative efforts have yielded results that are both substantial and satisfying,” she added.

President William Ruto is scheduled to begin a three-day State Visit to Ghana on Tuesday, with a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) ready for signature. During his visit, the President will give a keynote presentation at a joint business summit that brings together investors from both countries to discuss opportunities for mutual growth and collaboration.
