President William Ruto has given a decision to reopen all schools on Monday, May 13, 2024.
This decision is made in light of improving weather projections, which show a reduction in severe rains that had previously caused the postponement of school reopening.
At the same time, President Ruto has directed that funds for the rebuilding of school infrastructure destroyed by heavy rains be made available through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).
Schools were originally scheduled to reopen on April 29, 2024, however the date was pushed back to May 6, 2024, due to heavy rainfall.
President William Ruto later on Friday last week directed the Ministry of Education to postpone the re-opening of all schools indefinitely following the flooding crisis occasioned by the rains.
