The Kenya Meteorological Department predicts that various portions of Nairobi will see moderate to heavy rains beginning Tuesday afternoon.
The weatherman predicted in a statement on X that the rain would continue throughout the evening and night.
“Moderate to heavy rainfall expected from late afternoon, evening, and night as per the 3-hour interval animation map for Nairobi. Stay weather-aware and prepared!” said the Met Department.
According to the weather forecast, moderate downpours of 2 to 55mm of rainfall are likely in Starehe, Makadara, Kamukunji, Embakasi West, Embakasi Central, Embakasi North, Mathare, Ruraka, Kasarani, Langa’ata, and Kibera.
Heavy rainfall (25-50 mm) is forecast in Dagoretti South, Dagoretti North, Westlands, and parts of Roysambu.
This comes as the death toll from flooding caused by Kenya’s severe rains since March climbed to 236 on Tuesday.
The authorities reported that at least 75 other persons are still missing, and that the floods had displaced over 47,000 homes across the country.
