Police FC, Nairobi United Learn Continental Opponents in CAF Interclub Draw

Kenya’s representatives in this season’s CAF interclub competitions now know their opponents following the official draw, held for the first time in East Africa at Azam TV studios in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

In the CAF Champions League, reigning FKF Premier League champions Kenya Police FC will open their campaign against Somalia’s Mogadishu City Club in the preliminary round. The first leg is set for 19–21 September, with the return leg between 26–28 September. Victory over the Somali side would set up a second-round clash against either Jamus FC Juba of South Sudan or Sudan’s Al Hilal, with the aggregate winner securing a place in the group stage.

The first registration window for clubs taking part in the preliminary rounds is already underway, having opened on August 1 and set to close on August 31. CAF has not announced any extension, and clubs have been urged to avoid leaving their registrations to the last minute.

Both Kenyan clubs will benefit from CAF’s $100,000 participation grant, a scheme introduced last season and doubled for this campaign under CAF President Patrice Motsepe. The financial support ensures all participating teams ,even those starting in the preliminaries , receive critical assistance with travel, logistics, and squad strengthening.

With their paths to the group stages now clear, Police FC and Nairobi United will focus on preparation, knowing that strong performances in September could put them among Africa’s elite for the 2025/26 season.
