Police FC Crowned Champions as City Stars, FC Talanta Relegated in Dramatic FKF Premier League Finale

The 2024/25 FKF Premier League season concluded in spectacular fashion, delivering heartbreak and history in equal measure. In a campaign full of twists and turns, it was Police FC who stole the headlines, lifting their maiden league title at a vibrant and colourful coronation ceremony that capped off a season to remember.

While the champions celebrated, the final day brought agony for others. FC Talanta’s fairytale run in the top flight came to a crushing end following a narrow 1–0 defeat to Murang’a SEALs at Sebastian Park. City Stars, needing a win to survive, could only muster a goalless draw against Mathare United, confirming their drop to the National Super League (NSL) alongside Talanta.

Posta Rangers, who were precariously hovering above the drop zone, ensured their top-tier status remains hanging by a thread after a 1–1 draw with Bandari. Despite a late scare, the point was enough to secure them a place in the relegation/promotion playoff against NSL side Naivas FC.

There was little movement in the race for the Golden Boot on the final day, as all three contenders drew blanks. Kakamega Homeboyz striker Moses Shumah emerged top scorer with 17 goals, edging out FC Talanta’s Emmanuel Osoro, who endured a double blow , narrowly missing the top scorer’s accolade while witnessing his club plunge into relegation. Tusker’s Wesley Ogam completed the podium with 15 goals.

In a season that balanced triumph with despair, the final Matchday lived up to its billing : decisive, dramatic, and unforgettable.
