The Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the governing body of football in Kenya, has officially rolled out the 2025/26 Season transfer window, with several clubs already making moves to strengthen their squads for the new campaign.
The main transfer window, covering the FKF Premier League, the National Super League (NSL), and the FKF Women’s Premier League, officially opened on Friday, July 4, 2025, and will remain open until Friday, September 5, 2025. With the window now open, top-tier clubs are expected to announce new arrivals and offload players in the coming weeks as they prepare for preseason and continental competitions.
In a separate communication, FKF confirmed that the mid-season transfer window for lower-tier leagues will open on Friday, July 11, 2025, and run until Thursday, September 12, 2025. This second window will apply to clubs in FKF Division One, the Women’s National Super League, and FKF Women’s Division One.
Transfer activity has already begun to gather pace. FKF Women’s Premier League champions Kenya Police Bullets FC have confirmed the signing of Ugandan midfielder Zaina Namuleme from Makerere University Ladies. The reigning champions are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming CECAFA Region CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, where they will be representing Kenya.
In top tier Men’s league The FKF Premier League, Shabana FC have made headlines by winning the race to sign highly-rated midfielder Biron Otieno, beating out stiff competition from Gor Mahia and the Country’s representative in CAF Confederation Cup: Nairobi United. The player’s decision to join the Kisii-based side is seen as a major statement as Shabana prepares to build a competitive team ahead of the new season.
Meanwhile, Tusker FC are eyeing a move for Shabana midfielder Brian Michira, whose contract is set to expire in the coming months. Michira enjoyed a stellar season, scoring 17 goals and attracting interest beyond Kenyan borders. Three Tanzanian clubs are also believed to be pursuing his signature, putting pressure on Shabana to renew his deal quickly if they are to keep him.
At Gor Mahia, Out-of-contract Bandari FC left-back Siraj Mohammed was recently spotted in a meeting with Gor Mahia Deputy Patron Eliud Owalo, a move widely interpreted as the beginning of formal talks. Just days earlier, Bandari goalkeeper Byrne Omondi, who has less than six months remaining on his contract, also met with Owalo. Siraj is viewed as a top priority in Gor’s search for a dependable left-back, while Omondi remains a long-term goalkeeping target for the record league champions.
