Nairobi United have officially sealed the 2024/25 National Super League (NSL) title and earned promotion to the FKF Premier League, capping off a memorable campaign despite a humbling 3–0 loss to Naivas FC on the final day. The Dandora Stadium defeat, however, did little to dent their historic achievement as they ended the season top of the table with 72 points.

Joining them in the top tier next season will be APS Bomet, who secured the second automatic promotion slot after finishing four points behind the champions. APS Bomet benefited from a walkover in their final fixture as relegated SS Assad failed to honour the match at Bomet Stadium, confirming their own exit from the league in embarrassing fashion.

Naivas FC, meanwhile, ended their season on a high, outclassing the champions and booking a promotion playoff against FKF Premier League outfit Posta Rangers. Naivas will now have a chance to secure top-flight football via the playoff route.

At the bottom end of the table, SS Assad and Mombasa Stars were officially relegated to FKF Division One, joining Muhoroni Youth, who had earlier been expelled from the league by FIFA due to match-fixing violations. The three teams will now regroup in the third tier, marking a significant setback in their football journeys.

The battle for the Golden Boot offered a thrilling subplot. Heading into the final game, Darajani Gogo’s Veron Ombima led the scoring charts with 22 goals, while Fortune Sacco’s Elias Mugane trailed closely. On the final day, Ombima fired blanks, but Mugane stepped up with a brilliant brace to draw level. The two sharpshooters ended the season tied on 22 goals apiece, sharing the Golden Boot. Samwest Black Boots’ Timothy Ndayala finished third with 19 goals.

As the curtain falls on a gripping NSL season, Nairobi United and APS Bomet prepare for life among Kenya’s football elite, while the playoff-bound Naivas and the relegated trio reflect on a campaign of near-misses and bitter disappointments.
