Man in Juja Stabs Estranged Wife to Death While Crowd Looks On

In the Mirimaini region of Juja, Kiambu County, a man is accused of chasing and killing his estranged wife as a mob watched helplessly.

According to witnesses and authorities, the guy attempted suicide by stabbing himself on Saturday afternoon, February 17. The woman was identified as a local resident.

Residents and police detained the offender, who was then brought to the hospital, according to authorities.

According to witnesses, the guy approached his estranged wife when she was visiting a neighbour.

He then took out a knife and a machete from his luggage and started stabbing her in the neck.

The woman ran for her life, crying for assistance, and took sanctuary at a friend’s house.

Despite her attempts to flee to a friend’s house and scream for help, she was overpowered and had a portion of her throat severed, according to authorities.

This comes after the man tracked her to the house, locked it, and then attacked her.

Police officers from the Juja police station reacted to a distress call, detained the attacker, and transported him to Gatundu Hospital.

He was lying on the floor, in agony after stabbing himself in the stomach and chest.

The deceased’s body was taken to the General Kago Funeral Parlor.

Police stated they retrieved two blood-stained murder weapons (a kitchen knife and a panga) from the site.

Michael Muchiri, Kiambu police chief, said the incident’s reason has yet to be discovered.

“We are investigating the matter to know more. Unfortunately, it happened,” he said.

Residents claimed the two had a marital dispute and had been apart for some time.

The tragedy comes amid reports of a rise in murders in the country. There are accusations that the majority of the victims are female.

Police have subsequently formed a team to handle the cases.

Up to 30 incidences of women’s murder have been reported in the last two months alone, causing widespread outrage.

Police said some of the instances are being investigated, while others are in court.
