Elim White Ladies secured promotion to the FKF Women’s Premier League after defeating Gor Mahia Queens 2-0 in the Women’s National Super League promotion playoff at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Sunday.
The victory ensured Elim White Ladies joined already-promoted Shabana Starlets in next season’s top-flight league, while also extending Zone B’s dominance over Zone A teams in the promotion playoffs for a third consecutive year.
Both sides entered the match with strong records from the regular season. Gor Mahia Queens had finished second in Zone A with 42 points, the same tally that saw Elim White Ladies top Zone B. With a place in the FKF Women’s Premier League at stake, the contest attracted plenty of attention.
Elim White Ladies started brightly and looked the more threatening side in the opening stages. Their attacking approach put Gor Mahia under pressure, forcing the Nairobi-based side to defend deep for long spells.

Although Gor Mahia relied on the creativity of Jennifer Mueni and Lucky Ochado to spark attacks, they found it difficult to penetrate an organized Elim White defence.
The breakthrough came midway through the first half when captain Monicah Naswa initiated a flowing move before providing the final pass for Sylvia Kapera, who calmly finished to give Elim White a deserved lead.
Gor Mahia attempted to respond through Wendy Owino and Ruth Nabwire, but their efforts failed to seriously test the goalkeeper as Elim White carried a 1-0 advantage into halftime.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Gor Mahia pushing forward in search of an equaliser while Elim White remained disciplined at the back and dangerous on the counterattack.
Their persistence paid off shortly after the cooling break when Naswa once again turned provider. Her well-weighted pass found Noel Amutata, who slotted home to double the advantage and put promotion firmly within reach.

Amutata and Kapera both came close to adding further goals as Elim White comfortably managed the closing stages before celebrating a memorable return to the top tier.
Earlier, Shabana Starlets underlined their status as the league’s standout side by defeating Mathare United Women on penalties to be crowned the overall Women’s National Super League champions.
Having already secured automatic promotion after winning the Zone B title, Shabana Starlets faced Zone A champions Mathare United Women in a match to determine the overall NSL champion.
Neither side could find a breakthrough during regulation time despite creating several chances in a tightly contested encounter. With the scores locked at 0-0, the title was settled through a penalty shootout, where Shabana Starlets kept their composure to emerge victorious and cap off a remarkable season with the National Super League crown.
