The workshop brought together women from Nairobi’s informal settlements, all part of the ROSE Women’s Foundation Programme, for a hands-on training experience focused on digital literacy, social media marketing, and mastering the art of managing chamas—informal savings groups that are key to their business growth.

Azmaira Thobani, DTB’s Head of Sustainability and Communications, praised the participants for their dedication and emphasized the game-changing potential of digital tools. “At DTB, we know that empowering women entrepreneurs is essential for driving economic growth and financial inclusion,” Thobani said. “By helping them master digital skills, we are not just expanding their businesses; we are creating new job opportunities and supporting sustainable development.”

The training covered everything from using social media to boost sales, to managing finances, and leveraging technology to run more efficient chamas. With these new skills, attendees are now better prepared to grow their businesses, connect with customers, and increase their market reach.

For Jane Thige, a participant and beneficiary of the ROSE Women’s Foundation, the workshop was a game-changer. “I always used my smartphone for calls and payments,” said Thige. “But today, I learned how to use digital marketing to grow my business and reach more customers. I’m incredibly grateful to DTB, and I’m excited to apply these new skills to take my business to the next level!”

The ROSE Women’s Foundation, a faith-based non-profit organization, empowers women living in extreme poverty by providing them with the tools to succeed in entrepreneurship. The foundation uses technology and innovation to help women in low-income communities break the cycle of poverty.

DTB’s partnership with ROSE Women’s Foundation is a clear demonstration of the bank’s ongoing commitment to fostering financial inclusion and helping women entrepreneurs thrive.
