As the dust settles from a competitive set of Challenge Trophy quarterfinal clashes at the Dala 7s, four teams are now through to the semifinals, each eyeing silverware in Kenya’s premier rugby sevens festival.
Catholic Monks were first to book their place after a commanding 24–5 win over MSC Rugby, showing precision and control in key moments. Embu Rugby followed suit with an impressive 24–5 victory over hosts Kisumu RFC, silencing the home crowd with a dominant second-half display.
In one of the tighter battles, Kenya Harlequin edged past MMUST 15–10 in a scrappy but entertaining contest, while Impala produced a disciplined performance to defeat Homeboyz 19–5, wrapping up the quarterfinals with a strong statement of intent.
With the semifinal fixtures now confirmed, Embu Rugby will face Catholic Monks in what promises to be a highly tactical showdown. The second semifinal pits traditional rivals Impala against Harlequin in a classic Nairobi derby ,a fixture that always delivers fireworks regardless of what’s at stake.
The Challenge Trophy may not carry the weight of the Main Cup, but the level of competition and pride on display is every bit as fierce. Fans can expect more thrilling rugby as these teams battle for honours and finish their Dala 7s campaign on a high.
