The 2025 Dala 7s Main Cup quarterfinals delivered on all fronts intensity, skill, drama, and a crowning moment as four teams punched their tickets to the semifinals and KCB Rugby Club secured the overall National Sevens Circuit title in thrilling fashion.
Defending champions Kabras Sugar opened the day with a commanding 19–5 victory over Nondescripts, maintaining their unbeaten run and cruising into the last four. Confident and composed, Kabras looked every bit the side determined to retain their Dala 7s crown.
They were later joined by Menengai Oilers, who produced the most dominant performance of the quarterfinal stage, blowing away Mwamba RFC with a clinical 36–0 victory. The Oilers’ ruthless attacking display now sets up a high-stakes semifinal clash against Kabras , a matchup between two of the most consistent teams this season.
On the opposite side of the draw, Daystar Falcons edged past Nakuru RFC 12–10 in a closely fought contest that could have gone either way. The Falcons’ grit under pressure paid off, setting them up for a semifinal encounter with the winner of the day’s headline match.
That headline belonged to KCB Rugby Club and Strathmore Leos, the top two teams on the overall standings. With the National Sevens Circuit title hanging in the balance, the two sides delivered a classic. In the end, it was KCB who held their nerve, edging Strathmore 15–14 in a gripping finish that not only booked them a semifinal slot but also mathematically sealed the 2025 National Sevens Circuit title.
By reaching Semis, KCB moved beyond reach at the top of the standings, lifting the title even before playing their next match. For Strathmore Leos, it was a painful exit, having pushed the champions-elect all the way in what was effectively a title decider.
