The heavy rains that are ravaging communities and streets across the country have impacted one of Nairobi’s most important junctions.
Footage obtained shows the aftermath of Tuesday night’s severe downpour, which felled two of the city’s oldest trees in the capital.
The two massive trees at the Kenyatta Avenue and Moi Avenue intersection, outside the Nairobi Sports House and Imenti House, were uprooted, blocking vital entry and departure points.
Operations remained halted for the most of Wednesday morning while people were routed to alternate routes.
Other sections of the country were also affected, with Kitengela Road in Kajiado County being closed after the River Athi broke its banks between Portland and the interchange.
Traffic has being redirected to Makadara.
Other sections have remained submerged including Thika, Parklands, Imaara Daima, Langata Road, and others.
