The 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations officially begin today across the country.
According to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), all systems are in place to ensure a smooth and transparent process following successful rehearsal exercises held on Friday.
Candidates will today begin with oral examinations for French, German, Arabic, and Kenyan Sign Language, while practical papers are scheduled to run from Wednesday to Friday, October 31.
KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njengere announced that a total of 996,078 candidates are set to sit for this year’s KCSE examinations.
In addition, 1,298,089 learners will take the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) next week, while 1,130,669 candidates will sit for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).
Dr. Njengere further revealed that the number of examination storage containers has been increased from 617 last year to 642 this year to enhance the distribution and security of examination materials.
Meanwhile, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has warned that stern legal action will be taken against anyone involved in examination malpractice.
